About Tony Homer

Tony HomerI have been a practicing painter since graduating with a Fine Art Degree in 1975. Landscape has been an important focus for my work and I enjoy working out in the environment where the weather, season and time can have such a marked influence on what and how you record information. In the same way Cities and Towns and the relationship they have with the landscape create interesting challenges in representation. Coastal views, harbours, boats and tidal estuaries have become an important influence on my recent work.

Works are based on drawing and painting from images and places that interest me, and a major focus has been how we use and mark the environment we live in.

I have many works in private collections in England, Spain and Germany and working with people to create a visual representation of a time and location is an important concern.

The South West has been my base having moved here in 1986. I like to work from information collected from the environment in the form of sketchbooks, notes, photographs and visiting locations that I find visually stimulating.

Recent visits to Spain, Italy, Germany and Cuba have resulted in some of my most interesting work. I enjoy working in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media.

Through this work I have been commissioned to paint works based on photographs of family houses and holiday homes and favourite locations.

I am interested in further commissions and list current costs based on the listed dimensions although larger commission can be negotiated.
